Is a photo booth worth having at a wedding?

A wedding photographer captures important milestones and portraits; a photo booth adds an interactive activity for guests to enjoy when they want to. Friends, relatives and family generations get a reason to create candid keepsakes. If your goal is to offer entertainment plus a memorable takeaway, a printing photo booth can be a great addition.

When should the wedding photo booth open?

Many couples open the booth during cocktail hour or after dinner, when guests have time between scheduled activities. If your timeline includes toasts, first dances or announcements, you may want to close the photo booth so your guests focus on those events. If there is no cocktail hour, we suggest opening the photo booth 30 minutes after the start of dinner.

How many hours should we rent a photo booth?

Think about the guest count and the portion of the reception when the most people will be mingling. Two or three hours can work well for a focused reception window; a longer rental may suit a larger or more relaxed event. We do need an hour for teardown, so be mindful of when your venue rental ends.

Turn it into a unique experience

Wedding reception photo booth ideas

Your wedding photo booth should be as unique as you. Imagine your guests posing in front of a green screen that transports them to your honeymoon destination, enjoying elegant black-and-white glamour portraits, or having fun with our collection of creative props. They can also leave you a video message from right in the booth.

With our personalized photo print designs, a choice of photo backgrounds, and instant prints, your guests will have a lot of fun. With so many ways to customize the experience, we'll help you create something that reflects your personality and gives your guests memories they'll treasure.

Are silly photo booth props right for a formal wedding?

Props are optional, and the selection can match your atmosphere. It really comes down to how you view your guests.

Some couples love playful signs and glasses; others prefer simple photos. You can also let your guests choose. Be sure to communicate any specifics, such as no drinking-related signs.

Photos are memories guests can take home

Do photo booth prints replace traditional wedding favors?

To be honest, we rarely see favors. A printed photo and digital copy gives every participating guest a personal keepsake. With photos, you're letting guests create a keepsake with friends and family.

Which is best? Printed pictures or digital?

We always offer the digital. Prints are tangible keepsakes guests can display, and digital images are easy to share with friends and family. Wichita Photo Booths' attended Celebration package offers prints and digital sharing.

The Wichita Selfie Station is a self-service digital-only option.

What print sizes are available?

The Celebration package includes traditional 2×6 photo strips, with other print sizes available. Ask about other sizes when requesting a quote.

Can we make a wedding guest book with photo booth pictures?

A photo guest book is a lovely idea: guests add a print and write a message beside it. If you are thinking about this, please let us know. We can help you make this a great keepsake.

A few details make a big difference

Where should the photo booth be set up?

Choose a visible, accessible location near guest activity. The closer a photo booth is to the action, the busier it will be. Be sure there is power and space for the booth at the venue. We like to request a 10×10-foot area, but we can work in smaller areas too.

Should we have an attendant or go with automated?

An attendant helps guests get started, can zoom the camera in and out, and can assist with poses and props. The Celebration package includes an attendant. For couples who prefer a simpler self-service experience, the Wichita Selfie Station operates without one. If you are trying to save money, we can discuss options where printing is added to the Selfie Station.

Can a photo booth be used at an outdoor wedding?

Yes. It does require coordination and consideration of weather, power, and protection from sun, wind and rain. We are happy to discuss options.

Find the right fit for your budget

Are package prices flexible?

We want your business. If there are some things about your wedding plan that affect our cost, we will work with you.

How early should we book our wedding photo booth?

Once you know your venue and date, it's smart to confirm our availability. We have multiple booths, and on popular weekends they may all be out. The more time we have to plan with you, the more unique the experience can be.

What questions should we ask before hiring a photo booth company?

  • Is an attendant included?
  • Do guests receive prints, digital photos or both?
  • Is setup and teardown outside the rental time?
  • What are the photo layouts and backdrop choices?
  • How much space and power are needed?
  • What is included in the quoted rental time and total price?
  • How are the pictures taken? A digital camera versus a webcam, and the lighting style, can affect the final picture quality.
  • For a drop-off booth, will someone be available if the booth stops working?

We'll give you a couple of phone numbers in case of an issue.
